Homework Key Question

Question 1.

During the early years of channel 4, thier main motive was to demonstarate innovation throught most of thier progams, also according to their remit, they had to be creative in the content of thier progams. This was highly similar to the aims of a independent film production company has they targeted niche audinces, also due to short financial costs, they often had to stimulate they audiences by the use of creative narratives.

Question 2

Before 1993, Channel 4 only targeted niche audinces, and attempted to potray social realism to the highest standard, however their attempt to target mainstream audiences, scraped thier morals beliefs and mainly thier ideology behind thier remit. This took away thier rawness and thier harsh realism they had demonstrated towards society, and eventually led to a economic loss towards thier broadcasting.

Question 3

Channel 4 have sparked of several innovations of Britsh televison, the most famous is reality television, in 1999, Channel 4 intoduced Big brother a psycologiacal test invlolving real people living in a house, this new inventive way of exploring society has lead on to the creation of other reality progams such has Shipwrecked (BBc 2), Young Dumb Living of mom (BBc 3), also becasue of Channel4's motive to express the British society in its fullest, this has started a number of soap operas, which have targeted mainstream audiences.

Question 4

Channel 4 has mainly kept to remit, however it is not has evident has portayed, for example the film Walter(1992), clearly explores themes of homosexuality, Crime, and values, because its a film it can only be manipulated by the audience in terms of perciving it, wheras progams such as Big Brother, still discuss those themes, but sertain aspects are glamorised or taken too lightly, therfore not capturing the essence of their remit.

Question 5

Channel 4 no longer capture the essence of thier educational value, it no longer seems to have same seriousness has 25 years ago, first of all the presenters are not educationaly specialized in the ares of the progam for example Peaches Geldof was prsenting a progame on Islam, when it was publicly known, that isnt her field of knowledge, however progams such has Channel 4 news is one the best news broadcasts in terms of Research and Equality.

Question 6

Channel 4 still captures a few aspects of its remit, it produces some intresting topic, such has Dispatches, the reason why progams like those tond match the remit in its apparent form is because it doesnt include controversial topic like 25 years ago, also due to the public becoming more sensitive and aware to social expression, it has now become harder to convey the realism of society without offending the audience.

Question 7

Film 4 heavily relies on the Channel 4 in terms of advertising the films, Film 4 attempted to market their own films without help of channel 4, unfortuantly this led to a financial loss. Therefore Film 4 is heavily dependent on channel 4, in terms intergration. I would say it would be a horzintal intergration, because both companies require each other in order to stick to the remit and for maximum marxeting, it may seem that Channel 4 is highly seperate to the way Film 4 operate, but in order for the remit to be fully functional, it has to be an horzinatal intergration
