An analysis of Freak. part 2.
Mise en Scene is a key aspect which helps to further the narrative and also helps establish representations with the Drama, the first instance is when Lucie is shown in her bedroom. The first reason why this is significant is that her clothes are taken of her. Because this the first scene of the drama, the audience doesn’t know what this symbolises however because she is stripped to just her Bra and Knickers it suggests that they of importance to her and could suggest a financial difficulty within the Drama this represents a possible working class society: in addition, the arrangement of her furniture is quite cramped, which also suggests a lack of financial diffulty within her household. Also the objects in the Drama are quite significant. We see two Kids break into a party using a metallic object of somesort. This suggest that they were up to mischief before the party began and portrays a negative representation within the drama, that they are Mischievous teenagers. Money is also a key part within the Drama has it seems to give a sense of control and status for example Lucie wants to go to her Step-Brothers party, and is bribed with money to stay from the party. This gives a sense of control and vulnerability within Lucie, this represents her as a character that can easily be manipulated.

Some good points about mise-en-scene although it would be good to use more media specific terminology such as colour pallette etc
ReplyDeleteIt won't let me comment on the post below so will do it here. The work below on mise-en scene representing social class is good and with a bit more work and structure would make a good exam response.
